I went to my local library the other day and saw three new books on display that I just had to check out. From costumes, to clothing to repairs, these books have you covered.

So much of what we encounter today is new, free of blemishes, history and a personal touch. When we reinvent a used clothing item – whether through repurposing, renovation, refashioning with embellishment, or simply rewearing it with new accessories – we bring these characteristics back into the mix. Finding ways to reinvent clothing is a creative, fun, and thrifty way to add unique and memorable items to your children’s closet. Here are some ideas on how, but I hope you’ll share your reinventions, as well.

If the clothing you bought for your child this past winter still fits, but it’s getting too hot to wear them, try your hand at some simple alterations. Not only will the clothing last longer, but you’ll save some money along the way. You can also try this out with season clearance items that are just too good to pass up and clothing that still fits your child’s waist, but is too short in the arms or legs.
