Babes in the Woods – Dressing your children for the outdoors
Kids camping I love being outdoors, and have ever since I was little. When I was a kid, my parents would pack us up in the truck, along with everything including the kitchen sink, and head out into the mountains for some camping. Playing in the river, roasting hot dogs over a campfire, eating wild strawberries, and not having to take a bath all weekend were highlights of these adventures.
Jennifer Aist thinks that every child should have these types of opportunities to play in and appreciate the great outdoors. Sometimes, though, that's easier said than done; taking kids camping requires a different kind of preparation than just heading out into the wilderness with a pack and some water. With her guide Babes in the Woods: Hiking, Camping & Boating with Babies and Young Children, Aist tries to help adventurous parents instill their love for the outdoors in their own children by outlining tips and resources that make it easy to do so. Spoonflower: How cool is on-demand, custom-printed fabric?
I was roaming around the web tonight and landed on Heather Ross's website. If you haven't seen it yet, Ross's book Weekend Sewing: More Than 40 Projects and Ideas for Inspired Stitching is a fun book with some cute children's projects.
But, that's not what drew me to the site. Heather Ross is also a textile designer. And, a pretty amazing one, at that. While perusing her site, I noticed that many of her out-of-print designs are only available on-demand from Spoonflower, a fabric printing company based in North Carolina.
